Dr.
Stephen Read has maintained a private practice in geriatric psychiatry for more
than twenty-five years in parallel with his academic, research, and
institutional efforts. Currently Dr. Read limits his practice to outpatient
and homecare settings, together with forensics, but he brings his expertise
developed from extensive experience in the full range of care settings: acute
inpatient (psychiatric and medical-surgical hospital), day care, and
long-term care (skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and assisted living
programs). Dr. Read's forensic practive focuses on
decision-making and care issues, primarily involving the assessment of
capacity. Dr. Read has been qualified as an expert in federal court and in
California and several other state jurisdictions. He has been retained in
over 400 cases primarily involving matters related to capacity and competence
with regards to conservatorships, will contests, and qualiry of care issues,
as well as selected personal injury and criminal matters, and the
implications of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). |
